Updates: March ’12:

#2: Well, my computer broke. After a power blip (not outage) it went into hibernation and won’t boot up. It’s a laptop that’s always on outlet power. It’s quite old (already the screen and keyboard were long dead). My honey said he found a battery he can buy that might help. All I truly need is to get my most recent documents off the thing, namely the extensive graphical maps for this site I worked on for daysssss. :-(

Now I’m getting used to this weird computer/operating system. Not happy.

I’m also going to be more heavily focused on fixing personal problems I have. And my mother’s visiting to help.

I think when I’m over some depression caused by these problems, I can work on doll things more. To be honest, I haven’t been invested in the doll world enough over the past few weeks to allow me to finish the site and blog frequently, as will be needed when live. So far, I have a lot of mostly-very-rough drafts but depression holds me back. My creativity and skills come from a finicky place. If I’m tired, I can’t write, if depressed, there’s a lot more I can’t do. This is mostly normal.

(Not even my large box from the BC.com sale has helped much – wtf?! LOL. I truly thought I’d love to show you how “bad” I was. ;-) )

When I’m finally blogging, things should be a bit more pleasant in my life or at least my mind. I really do hope to be able to “meet you” soon! I’m done with predictions. I can’t wait to nourish and promote this new baby, but more basic (almost primal) needs beckon. Oh sigh!

#1 We didn’t get the Internet in our new home until the evening of Feb. 28th. I’m still catching up on everything computer-related (our Internet issues even forced us to figure out a new spot for the desk which was sad news for the offline graphic work I originally planned during downtime)! The website is still coming, of course. I’m sorry that AT&T made soon mean less soon for us, but … blame them! Har har – I’m sure you believe me; it is AT&T. I think now I can say we are coming soon! It shouldn’t be before the month is half over – and I think I’m being conservative. :-)

Update: 1/14/12: Delay:

My grandmother has fallen ill, so there will be a delay in the site launch, along with my doll/city development. :-( <== !!!

1/14/12: My Nana has passed on, but I know she’s been ready for a long time. We all love you so much! Your doll-pl-ganger is in the queue!

Update: 1/18/12:

My saner-than-I boyfriend has reminded me I may not want to debut the website on my dreamed date (by late next week) because we may lose connectivity to the Internet for an unknown amount of time. (emphasis added later, much later)

One issue is that while our addicted-to “cable” provider, UVerse, is supposed to be available at our home, there is a possible delay in its actual availability (we received conflicting information). We may have some difficult decisions that could delay even the Internet. Know that I can hardly live without computers/the web (for any interested in our debut!). (Note to self: thankfully you have dolls and setting up tidy/chic rooms in your real home to occupy you!)

I know playing with dolls while we are moving is, itself, insane. I couldn’t help getting started over a holiday lull in my schedule, when I discovered Basics and the Steffie with a blonde fro of fabulous curls (she’s Cori now — there’s a lot to preview off that link). Haha. My presents to myself were just Barbie things. ;-) (It was a hoot shopping for myself in the toy sections right before Christmas. And noisy.) At least this hobby has kept me happy and made for a more peaceful life in our house, haha. (I’m not 24/7 expensive purses, right now.)

Things for my doll city will crank into a higher gear after we’re moved and are settling in, when I can dive more into the furniture and “room” buying/building. Fun! (And a new paycheck, thankfully, hahaha.) As for the website, though, it should be ready, at the latest, soon after we are online in our new apartment. If we can’t get UVerse, that might make it happen sooner (possible overlap) but would be bad news for us.

Blablabla. ;-) Thanks so much for your interest! xxx L

This website is coming soon as I am working on it behind the scenes to build content!

A preview … about …

I will post photos, articles and blog entries about Barbie/dolls, DIY, etc. After growing up in my tiny parents’ house, then moving from apartment to not-right apartment, now at 30 and settling into our new place, I can finally set up space for my collection while I grow it (and their fashions) and nurture it! (and start ridding my Barbie Dream World of everything I hate from classic Barbies).  So now I even decided to (slowly) make a dream house, businesses and other sets (in that Barbie Dream City: Metrodollis [pronounced like metropolis]) for displaying my dolls. I will publish photos and details about all of my customizing and creating/building as soon and as I can!

Of course as I write this, we’re still in early stages of moving, and as the site publishes, I’m not sure if we’ll be far along yet!

Me:

I’m Elle (born Lauren Noelle M. but I never liked that name). I always loved playing with Barbies even most of through junior high, and later began collecting dolls again as a teen with one of my friends. I had to take a break for a long while from accumulating and displaying again (small bedroom but lots of stuff/moving/recession/moving/moving/hating apartment for a full lease term thanks to holiday theft that was just the start of our old neighborhood turning bad – oy!) but now I’m getting get more into the adult-enthusiast side of it than ever!
